Data wiped, materials recovered
Every device with storage is data-wiped to a certified standard before it's disassembled and sorted for recycling.
What's actually inside
- Electronics contain metals like copper, aluminum, and small amounts of gold and silver that can be recovered and reused instead of newly mined.
- Some components contain lead, mercury, or flame retardants that need careful handling so they don't end up in soil or groundwater.
- Devices with storage can hold personal data long after you've stopped using them, which is why certified wiping is part of every drop-off.
- Working devices are refurbished and passed on where possible, instead of being broken down for parts.
